YBX5 Flameproof Rib-Cooled Three-Phase Asynchronous Motor

The YBX5 series is a new-generation flameproof rib-cooled three-phase asynchronous motor. It is manufactured using optimized cooling fin design and high-performance materials, combining excellent explosion-proof safety with superior thermal stability.

This series features a compact structure, high heat dissipation efficiency, reliable operation, and easy maintenance. It is suitable for explosive gas atmospheres (Group II hazardous areas, excluding underground coal mines), with temperature classes T1–T4 available according to customer requirements.

YBX5 motors provide reliable power for fans, pumps, compressors, mixers, belt conveyors, gearboxes, and other mechanical equipment, and are widely used in petroleum, chemical, fertilizer, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, offshore engineering, and other hazardous industrial environments.

Technical Features

  • The flameproof structure is strictly designed and manufactured in accordance with
    GB 3836.1 Electrical apparatus for explosive gas atmospheres – Part 1: General requirements and
    GB 3836.2 Electrical apparatus for explosive gas atmospheres – Part 2: Flameproof enclosure “d”.
    Available explosion-proof markings:
    Ex d IIA T4 Gb / Ex d IIB T4 Gb / Ex d IIC T4 Gb
    (selected according to gas group and temperature class).

  • Rib-cooled (externally finned) structure with optimized ventilation channels improves heat exchange efficiency, making the motor suitable for continuous heavy-duty operation and intermittent high-temperature conditions.
    Anti-corrosion surface treatment enhances resistance to corrosive environments; optional protective coatings are available for coastal or aggressive atmospheres.

  • Manufactured according to national standard mounting dimensions, ensuring easy replacement and interchangeability with existing equipment.
    Standard enclosure protection class IP55, upgradeable to IP65 upon request.

  • Cooling method IC411 (standard) or optional IC416 (forced ventilation) to meet different cooling requirements.
    Duty type S1, designed for continuous and stable operation.

  • Class F insulation system, evaluated with Class B temperature rise, ensuring thermal stability and long-term reliability under demanding operating conditions.

  • Frame sizes ≤ 225 are equipped with sealed bearings and enhanced flameproof sealing design.
    Frame sizes above 225 adopt regreasing or oil-lubricated bearing structures, with lubrication and sealing systems configured according to operating conditions.

  • The terminal box adopts a flameproof enclosure design and is equipped with reliable explosion-proof cable gland interfaces.
    Cable entry direction can be customized (left / right / top) to facilitate on-site wiring and protection requirements.

  • Optional online monitoring components include RTDs (PT100) or thermistors, temperature rise monitoring, vibration monitoring, speed sensors, and no-load/load protection devices, supporting intelligent operation and maintenance for critical applications.

  • Strict flameproof component assembly and inspection procedures are applied during manufacturing and testing.
    Each motor is supplied with Explosion-Proof Certificate, inspection reports, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals to meet on-site inspection and regulatory requirements.

Selection & Installation Recommendations

  • When selecting motors for explosive atmospheres, please provide the gas category, temperature class (T1–T4), environmental classification, and installation conditions, so that the correct explosion-proof marking and sealing level can be determined.

  • For VFD-driven applications or long cable runs, please consult our engineers regarding cable length, inverter output characteristics, and the need for output filters, to avoid insulation stress or bearing current issues.

  • For outdoor or marine environments, corrosion-resistant materials and protective surface treatments are recommended. Additional covers or rain protection should also be considered.

  • Installation must strictly follow explosion-proof electrical installation standards, including the selection of certified explosion-proof cable glands, grounding systems, and shielding measures, ensuring that terminal boxes, flanges, and sealing surfaces comply with explosion-proof requirements and on-site inspection standards.
