Shanghai Electric and China Huadian Group Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement

On the afternoon of September 13, in Beijing, Shanghai Electric Group and China Huadian Corporation Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Huadian Group”) officially signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement, witnessed by Jiang Yi, Party Secretary and Chairman of Huadian Group, and Leng Weiqing, Party Secretary and Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group.

The agreement was signed by Wu Jingkai, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager of Huadian Group, and Jin Xiaolong, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Shanghai Electric Group.

According to the agreement, the two parties will fully leverage their respective strengths to deepen cooperation in offshore wind power project development and construction, onshore wind-solar-storage integrated new energy projects, and large-scale “desert, Gobi and wasteland” clean energy bases, forming a strong strategic partnership.

Both sides will also enhance collaboration in gas turbines, hydrogen energy, and various energy storage technologies, jointly advancing technological innovation and developing demonstration projects in key energy sectors. In addition, the two companies will jointly explore international markets and actively contribute to the Belt and Road Initiative by providing Chinese solutions to global energy challenges.

Prior to the signing ceremony, the two sides held in-depth discussions on further strengthening their comprehensive cooperation.

Jiang Yi introduced Huadian Group’s overall development strategy and key initiatives during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. He stated that Huadian Group is fully implementing China’s new energy security strategy, balancing energy supply stability with green and low-carbon development. The group is accelerating the development of large-scale clean energy bases in desert, Gobi, and wasteland regions, promoting multi-energy complementary systems integrating wind, solar, and hydropower, and advancing strategic emerging industries such as hydrogen energy and energy storage. He expressed hope that both parties will further enhance communication and cooperation to jointly build benchmark demonstration projects in the energy sector.

Leng Weiqing noted that the two sides have a long history of cooperation, having jointly delivered numerous landmark “first-of-its-kind” projects in China’s power industry. He emphasized that it is through continuous, comprehensive, and pioneering collaboration with Huadian Group that Shanghai Electric has significantly improved its technological innovation capabilities and advanced its manufacturing strength.

He expressed hope that this new agreement will serve as a milestone for deeper cooperation, enabling both parties to leverage their respective advantages, expand cooperation areas, and further integrate Shanghai Electric into Huadian Group’s development strategy, providing high-quality and efficient support for Huadian’s green and high-quality growth.

Representatives from relevant departments and affiliated enterprises of both headquarters attended the signing ceremony.
